With four million visitors each year, every visit to the Burlington Arcade is a unique experience, steeped in history. One of the first shopping arcades, opening in 1819, the arcade was originally commissioned to be built, ‘for the sale of jewellery and fancy articles of fashionable demand, for the gratification of the public’.

Today, this historic arcade is bursting with heritage from its traditional shop fronts and store signs, some of which are features from the original build.

Open daily from 09:00 - 19:30 Monday - Saturday and 11:00 - 18:00 on Sundays, Burlington Arcade is one of the few dog-friendly luxury shopping districts. The Beadles will even provide water bowls for light refreshments.

Royal Warrants: Penhaligon’s - are proud holders of two long-standing Royal Warrants from HRH The Prince of Wales (granted in 1988) and HRH the Duke of Edinburgh (granted in 1956). Hancocks - Over its vast history the shop has held four Royal Warrants, and also bears the honour of being the sole manufacturers of the Victoria Cross. Victoria Cross is made from the metal of a bronze canon which was captured from Russians in war. Only a limited amount of crosses can be made from the remaining canon. The remaining canon is kept at the Royal Armouries in Donnington but Hancocks has always had license to produce the Victoria Cross from this.
