Stella McCartney – Menswear Autumn 2018 Collection
A juxtaposition of both the familiar and the disruptive combined with British cultural conventions to result in an effortless wardrobe in iconic fabrics.

Reimagining traditional tattersall check, landed gentry shirts are a mainstay of the country gentlemen’s wardrobe. Rather than be worn under tweed jackets and jumpers, tattersall and gingham shirts instead sit under brushed melange grey sport style top and bottom shifting the material from country to street. A knit polo shirt is worn with a tailored flannel tracksuit.
Uniforms in either school, army, sportswear or farmer. These iconic styles are mixed, matched and explored a new. The chevrons and diagonal stripes of a shell suit cuts through classic striped work shirts. Army Camouflage is subject to painterly splatters, layered on a Prince of Wales check in either a tailored wool coat or recycled nylon puffer jacket. Cargo pants arrive in tailoring via a traditional wool flannel fabrication – classic but quirky and eminently wearable.

The scarf of the football fan is emblazoned with a ‘No Smile No Service’ motif and thrown across a timeless tweed wool coat with the boy-next-door nonchalance. A gentler side is on display in an organically patch worked panels of shades of green and charcoal collaged into a comforting v-neck jumper.
Traditional coats are revisited with a light touch. A huge army hood transforms a double breasted overcoat for a take on a posh parka. The countryside walks into the city via the use of artist Martin Ridley’s classic wildlife scenes which are printed onto organic poplin shirts and t-shirts, brushed animal print jumpers in tonal khakis and greys. Classic colours with the smallest streaks of bold colouration pop up. A dab of chilli red and a bolt of grass green cut through the grey, black, navy, khaki and camel neutrals.

The Stella man has a strong and proud environmental connection which is put centre stage with the launch of the new sustainably designed Loop trainers. Made of stretch knitted uppers and available in both women’s and men’s collections, Loop is manufactured without the use of glue and featuring a rubber sole made of bio-TPU from renewable resources. Elsewhere, sustainable and ethically friendly separates within the collection are championed and branded with an ‘S’ logo on the sleeves.
